Fishing big yellow Tuna Fishy in the sea
FIRST EVER YELLOWFIN TUNA
What Tuna’s cooking, honey?
Who said that going out to the deep waters at 4 am in the morning is only fun and games? So, I got up, packed his lunch, gave him a kiss and off he went. Never thought that I will be filleting Tuna that evening. Off course he had his friends helping and cheering along the way. Can you imagine the face when this water creature landed on the deck, because I can’t? Where is that first impression photo I asked? On this photo you can see the tiredness in the eyes and the longing for that shower and off to bed routine. After this one my husband is hooked on fishing, good for him, as long as he washes his hands before hugging me.
Curried fish, Toasted fish-sandwiches, -salad, -grilled, for breakfast, for lunch, for dinner and even dessert. Me by the way was the lucky winner of getting the opportunity to fillet this beauty and oh my word. Two back pain pills, three shots of tequila and a very sharp knife did the trick. This is what happens when Leon catches his first ever Yellowfin in the Southern waters of South Africa.
Leon felt so good and I think the ego still has not worn off. My husband, a fishing guru. I can’t wait for more to come then I am going to try fish cakes. Hopefully next time there will be more action photos and recipes .
Did you know that yellowfin is among the larger tuna specie. They can reach a weight of over 175kg. This baby here was only 46kg. Their main source of mortality, is industrial tuna fisheries. Tuna is warm-blooded and speeds of up to 50 miles per hour.
